    GAMELOADING: RISE OF THE INDIES is a feature documentary exploring the world of indie game developers and how they have forever changed the landscape of games culture. The film is a discovery of the craft, culture and people behind these innovative and personal games. Come see a sneak peek featurette of this documentary, still in post-production. (W/ Introduction by guests Rami Ismail and Adriel Wallick, who appear in the film. )
  • Gorogoa: Developer Commentary
    Join developer Jason Roberts and find out more about the creation of his award winning game, Gorogoa.
  • Mountain: Developer Commentary
    Join developer Damien Di Fede at The Highball as he talks about creating Mountain with animator David OReilly (The External World, Her, Adventure Time: "A Glitch is a Glitch")
  • QED Dance Battle
    Last year's spotlight title QED is popping and locking it's way back onto the Fantastic Arcade stage in a new, revamped form, with an audience judged special demonstration led by creator Stephen Ascher. If you only take part in one breakdancing anthropomorphic hot dog physics game contest, make it this one.
  • Astro Duel Tournament
    Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar- Theater 3 Inspired from endless nights of Super Bomberman, rounds are quick and death is sudden. 2 to 4 players blast each other using asteroid-style ships. The goal: KILL KILL KILL!! Try your hand at Rusty Moyher's Astro Duel and play Fantastic Arcade Showcase games provided on Laptops in the theater!
  • Super Game Jam: Episodes 4 and 5
    Alamo South Lamar - Theather 3, Filmed in five cities over a six month period, each episode of  pairs two indie developers together for 48 hours and challenges them to create a game based on a theme suggested by their peers. Come watch episode 4 (featuring Martin Jonasson and Fantastic Arcade alum Jonatan "Cactus" Söderström) and the premeir of episode 5 (featuring Liselore Goedhart and Tom Francis).  Guest developer Tom Francis will be in attendance, and Super Game Jam games SimAntics: Realistic Anteater Simulator and Blossom will be free to play on laptops througout Fantastic Arcade.

    Cleveland Games - Installation and BTS from Thu Tran on Vimeo. Thu Tran and Ivan Safrin show off their surreal collection of motion-controlled games, created for Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. 
  • Lost in the Woods: Developer Commentary
    Join developer Charles Elwonger as he shows us Lost in the Woods, a game about the eroding force of time, the clustered masses of life and matter overgrowing our impressions on the world, and the things we choose to pass on.

  • Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime: Developer Commentary
      Guest developer Matt Hammil will take us through space on a bunny-rescuing adventure in Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime.
  • Double Fine: The Origins of Grim Fandango
    Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar - Theater 3 Join Double Fine's Tim Schafer and White Whale's George Royer for a conversation on all things Grim Fandango and its various inspirations from film noir to Mexican folklore.
  • Gang Beasts: Commentary and Tournament
    Alamo South Lamar- Theater 3, Step into the ring with GANG BEASTS, no qualification needed- this tournament is bound to be utter, squishy chaos. With running commentary by Vlambeer's JW Nijman, DoubleFine's Tim Schafer and Gang Beast developer James Brown, this will be an unforgettable clash of cuddly mayhem! We'll hear about the creation of the game at 6:00pm with open sign ups for the tournament, beginning at 7:00pm.
  • Push Me Pull You: Developer Commentary and Tournament
    Alamo South Lamar - Theater 3, Join the creators of Push Me Pull You for an exploration of their friendly and colorful body-horror sports game. Developer commentary at 8pm, followed immediately by a Push Me Pull You tournament at 9:00pm, with open sign up during the commentary. 
  • Tournament Prelims: Nidhogg and Towerfall Ascension
    Come see if you qualify for two of our biggest tournaments of 2014- Nidhogg and Towerfall Ascension! We'll be holding these prelims from 9am to 12:30, so get a good night's sleep if you can! Prelims will be held on Sony PS4 Kiosks in Alamo South Lamar, which will be attended by a Fantastic Arcade volunteer. NOTE: There will be one additional prelim for each game during saturday night Tournaments in Theater 3, but if you want to be sure you will get a chance to compete, placing in one of the morning prelims is the best way! Don't miss out!
  • Monstro Cards
    Join the White Whale team as they present their latest project, MONSTROCARDS, the creative card drawing game. They'll host a fierce competition on stage as players create bizarre, hilarious MONSTROCARDS and advocate for their cards as the best and weirdest, all with the help of audience vote!
  • Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon Developer Commentary
    Join David Kalina and Randy Smith of Tiger Style as they discuss their exploration and discovery of the deep gameplay and scoring mechanics of the Spider franchise.  Then stick around for The Truth About Secret Societies, which presents research that became the foundation for the story of Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon.
  • Heat Signature: Developer Commentary
    Join Developer Tom Francis as he introduces us to his Fantastic Arcade 2014 Showcase game Heat Signature, and his bonus game (with Liselore Goedhart), SimAntics.
  • Self-Publishing on Playstation
    The Highball  Sony has been putting the spotlight on indie developers all year, and making their platforms friendlier than ever to self-publish on – if you’re an indie developer, Sony would love to work with you! The SCEA Developer Relations will be on-hand to talk about the process and answer any burning questions you may have. Sign up during the panel to compete in a fistfull of indie game tournaments that follow, including Nidhogg, N++, and Towerfall Ascension, all available on Playstation.
  • N++ Tournament
    Finals for the the new and improved Race Mode of Metanet Software's N++ will go down in Theater 3 at 4:30pm! Prelim qualifiers will be held in the morning between 9 and 11am at The Highball!
  • Nidhogg Tournament
    Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar - Theater 3 Finals for Messhof's Fantastic Arcade hit Nidhogg will go down at 6pm! Make sure you qualify in the morning's preliminary trials at The Highball, between 9am and 11am!
  • Towerfall Ascension: Tournament
    Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar - Theater 3 Join us in what will be one of the most hotly contested tournaments of Fantastic Arcade 2014- Towerfall: Ascension! Qualifying prelims occur in the morning, 4/20 between 9am -11pm at The Highball!
  • Nuclear Throne Tournament
    Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar - Theater 3 Welcome back Fantastic Arcade favorites Vlambeer for a Nuclear Throne speedrun challenge! No qualifier run needed to participate, but we expect to see the best of the best test their skills!  
  • Life on a Mountain: Developer Commentary
    Welcome Nuclear Throne composer Jukio "Kozilek" Kallio as we celebrate the premier of his first game as a developer- Life on a Mountain.

    Watch as two contestants go head-to-head, answering game trivia and playing this year's best Gamemaking Frenzy games. With IFC's Food Party host Thu Tran overseeing the madness, expect a queasy nexus of videogames, food and overindulgence- all in a showdown we have christened: BARFCADE.   • Fantastic Arcade Awards
    Join us as we recognize the hard work and creativity of this year's Fantastic Arcade spotlight, jury and audience choice game selections.
  • Fantastic Arcade Closing Party
    DJ's Kozilek and Ben Esposito will play out the closing hours of Fantastic Arcade as Fernando Ramallo and Arcane Kids provide live visuals. Come toast another year of Arcade with us!
