Fantastic Market Announces Collaboration With Blood Window

The two genre markets are working together.

Austin, TX – Friday, February 21, 2014 --- Fantastic Fest is pleased to announce a new collaboration between its Latin American genre co-production market—Fantastic Market | Mercado Fantastico—and Blood Window: the new genre film market in Ventana Sur.  Fantastic Market will take place from September 18 - 20 in Austin, Texas. Fantastic Fest will occur September 18 - 25, 2014. Ventana Sur will occur December 1 - 5 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

As part of this new collaboration, Fantastic Market will invite two pitching projects and two works-in-progress from the December 2013 Blood Window to present at this year's market. Similarly, Ventana Sur will invite two pitching projects and two works-in-progress from the September 2014 Fantastic Market to participate in Blood Window this December.

"Austin market gives a great opportunity for genre film projects from Latin America.
The pitching sessions connect the north and south of the American continent bridging the gap through genre film," says Ventana Sur Co-Director Bernardo Bergeret.

"Ventana Sur is one of the most important film markets in the world," says Fantastic Market Director Rodney Perkins. "We are extremely honored to team up with their new Blood Window genre film market.”

“As Ventana Sur has become the epicenter for Latin American film business, we are thrilled they are now placing specific importance on latin genre cinema through Blood Window,” says Cristina Garza, Vice President of Mundial, which is Canana’s sales joint venture with IM Global. “Our collaboration comes from a mutual desire to shed light on this growing industry and to foster the potential these films have outside of Latin America. We are sure this partnership will be a lasting one.”

Fantastic Market will undergo some additional changes this year. In addition to hosting co-production pitching sessions for projects in development, Fantastic Market will also host exclusive work-in-progress screenings of the hottest genre projects from Latin America. Only accredited market attendees will have access to the pitching sessions and works-in-progress screenings. The call for Fantastic Market submissions, including pitches and works-in-progress, will open in late March - early April 2014.
