At an isolated construction site in the south of Chile, Aniceto Martínez’ past comes back for eerie revenge in the shape of a terrifying mythological being: the Invunche.
In the distant south of Chile, the construction of the Austral Route–the largest infrastructure project of the Pinochet dictatorship–has just begun. Aniceto Martínez, member of the Chilean military, travels with his family to the base where the new road is being built. The isolation, the relentless rain and the lonely landscapes unleash a general paranoia in the camp; but especially Anicento, who can’t shake the feeling that a curse is forcing him to face his violent past. His sanity is taken to the limit when his wife dies of a strange disease, and his daughter Rosa befriends local kids that initiate her in the arts of witchcraft. With them, she’ll try to bring to life a mysterious local mythological creature: the Invunche.
